邹兆龙在台湾出生，家中有八个兄弟四个姊妹。邹兆龙以前「倪星」之名打进影坛。邹兆龙从小因为家境贫困没有念多少书，从年幼的时候自师父学了拳术，十二岁就开始在电影里跑龙套当武行，一直到十八岁当兵前，终於当上男主角，拍了「全力反弹」。他在服完兵役决定后到香港发展。一待十年。邹兆龙说，他曾当过很多明星的替身，印象最深的是在电视剧「楚留香新传」中，当了大半年郑少秋替身。

他亲自上阵演出所有特技动作，他曾和多位顶尖功夫导演合作，包括洪金宝、元奎、徐克、袁和平等。他中、英、粤语都很流利，之前是洪家班武行，曾演出的作品有【中南海保镳】、【给爸爸的一封信】、【冒险王】、【新英雄本色】、【目露凶光】等三十数部电影演出。

一九九九年，邹兆龙又做了人生中的另一项重大决定：前往美国发展。他学习力极强，在不到一年的时间，英文从一句不通到沟通无碍。这期间他也结了婚，太太翁为德是中德混血儿。

【骇客任务：重装上阵】是他演出的第一部美国电影，他也在【骇客任务：最后战役】一片中再度担纲演出。

他为何可以脱颖而出在「骇客任务：重装上阵」中演出呢？邹兆龙说因为他曾经拍过袁和平导演的「虎猛威龙」，两人因而熟识。在偶然机会下打电话给袁和平，他告知「骇」片需要一个「高大又能打」的华裔演员，在香港找不到。后来邹兆龙在两千年底去参与了两个月的前制作业，结束后没多久就接到通知，「骇」片两导演想要见他，「才知道我得到了一个角色。」邹兆龙说。

邹兆龙身高一八○，瘦长而结实，长得也很斯文，不过一张他在摄影棚拍的「上空」沙龙照，却十分惊人—肌肉练得有如健美先生，再加上刻意摆出的架式，像极了李小龙。他得意地说：「两导演看了我的肌肉后，也是惊叹连连喔 ！」

李连杰和邹兆龙都是成功打进好莱坞的武功高手，在新片「霍元甲」中，比李连杰年轻四岁的邹兆龙，却当上李连杰的爸爸。

曾在「骇客任务」二、三集中，和基诺李维大打特打的邹兆龙，刚从上海车墩片厂回洛杉矶。他表示 李连杰投资作老板的跨国大片「霍元甲」中，饰演霍元甲的父亲霍恩第，特别练密宗长拳，还剃了光头，颇具挑战性。
